What is Sonophoresis?

What is sonophoresis? We’ll take a look at this transformational treatment and how it can grow your business and take your clients’ results to the next level.

It’s an exciting time to be a professional in the skincare industry. From LED light therapy to nano channeling to ultrasonic technology, the ability to customize and enhance treatments for your clients is greater than ever before. And so is the demand.

If you are looking to grow your business, increase your ROI, and take your client’s results to the next level, professional skincare devices and tools can help you do just that. Advanced technologies will not only elevate your clients’ experiences but will also breathe new air, and lucrative opportunities, into your spa business. And if you haven’t tried ultrasonic technology in your treatment room, you’re in for a treat—let us introduce you to sonophoresis and the UltraSonophoresis.

What is Sonophoresis?

Sonophoresis is a non-invasive treatment that uses sound wave (ultrasound) technology, warmth, and motion energy to significantly increase the depth and rate at which active ingredients can be absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin making it appear plumper, hydrated, and smooth.

Sonophoresis basically creates a temporary break in the skin’s lipid bilayers, allowing active ingredients to fill small pockets between the skin cells. The barely audible or inaudible soundwaves then push these active ingredients deeper into the skin layers.

“Studies have shown that clients undergoing 3-5 months UltraSonophoresis treatments with selected formulations of L-Ascorbic Acid and Retinol combined with daily home use will attain improvements in manifestations of photoaging greater than they would attain solely by home use of products.” – Dr. Geoffrey Heber, Founder and Director of Ultraceuticals

UltraSonophoresis

The UltraSonophoresis was created by Dr. Heber, a cosmetic physician, and the creator of Ultraceuticals skincare. When using the UltraSonophoresis in the treatment room with active ingredients like Vitamin C and Retinol, along with home care, clients will see improvement in photoaging and anti-aging benefits much faster than if home care products were used alone.

Using sonophoresis is also great for helping the esthetician deep clean the skin and push the impurities from the pores, which can assist them in the extraction process or eliminate the step altogether—that’s how well the ultrasonic technology works. It pushes the impurities out while allowing the active ingredients to be infused deeper into the skin.

What sets UltraSonophoresis apart from the other sonophoresis devices out there is that it plugs into an outlet, allowing product delivery to increase by up to 1,000 times!

Who is Sonophoresis For?

Sonophoresis is a great compliment to almost any facial treatment. Why? Because it can be customized to treat almost any skin type and concern, depending on which active ingredients are used in conjunction with the device. A sono device increases the benefits of whichever serum is used. A smooth metal wand is used to administer the ultrasonic technology to the skin. After application, the skin can flush slightly but usually settles shortly afterward (within an hour or so, typically).
